Fragile was released in 1987 on Sting’s album …Nothing Like the Sun. The song was inspired by the death of American aid worker Ben Linder, who was working on a hydroelectric project for the people in Nicaragua and was killed by Contra rebels during the civil war. This event deeply moved Sting and prompted him to write a song about the fragility of life and the senselessness of violence.
Recorded on March 10, 2025, in the thematically fitting setting of the Peace Rooms at Villa Lindenhof in Lindau. The lively accompaniment of chirping birds in the background was unplanned but became a welcome gift 🕊️
